Mexicans recognize themselves in the National Flag even in differences, says President Lopez Obrador / @lopezobrador_ @GobiernoMX >>>

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- In commemorating Flag Day, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador highlighted the relevance of this patriotic symbol in Mexico’s historical processes and maintained that «it is above party flags and other particular or group interests, however legitimate or powerful they may be.»

«Our flag, in its evolution, amalgamated symbols of our pre-Hispanic past, of colonial Mexico and of the independent republic (…) Its history is linked to the struggles of our people for freedom, justice, democracy and national sovereignty; and (…) it has managed, in the course of time, to be the civic emblem of unity most respected by all,» he remarked.

During the ceremony at the Campo Militar Marte in Mexico City, the Chief Executive said that Mexicans, even though we are culturally, politically and socially different, «we recognize ourselves in our flag, because it represents, enlightened and eternal, the greatness of our homeland.

The President awarded the Heroic Military College’s Flag of Military Merit in Degree of Order to the Heroic Military College’s Flag and led the flag-raising of the escorts in formation of the Ministry of Public Education, the Mexican Navy, the Special and Intervention Reaction Force of the National Guard, the 701 Squadron and the Felipe Ángeles International Airport.
